Bruno Boni's relationship with Ibiza begins before memory: the artist's mother lived on the island in the 1970s, and from that inheritance comes a gaze that turns the party stereotype inside out. The Ibiza he photographs is the island of nature: the salt flats, the dragonzitos, the little lizards that are the island's symbol, the sea in all its blues. It is the island of childhood and affection, the one almost nobody photographs. Es Vedrà, the mystical islet that legend links to the sirens of Ulysses, appears framed by caves, circumnavigated by boat and cut against a silky Mediterranean. In the Salinas, a heritage site more than two thousand years old, the ponds compose mosaics of pink, green and blue seen from above, and flamingos double themselves in reflections on the still lagoon. Formentera enters with the impossible blues of Ses Illetes and Pas de s'Espalmador, and Dalt Vila, with its medieval wall facing modern yachts, closes the arc between history and summer.

These are images that give the Mediterranean back its contemplative side, and that is what makes them collectible: those who know Ibiza recognize the soul of the place; those who do not gain a permanent window onto it.
